Media appreciation #4

1. The two adds that were shown are basically trying to tell us that we should use this type of gas because its better for our environment. The two bp adds are basically trying to make it seem as if this gas is harmless and its all we need when it probably isn't as great as it seems. The target audience is people who drive often and who use up a lot of gas. They are mainly targeting those who are into saving the environment and people who care about the pollution they cause while driving. The images that stuck to me the most was the image of the teenage girl showing how she really is and then showing what she's soposed to look like (blonde, blue eyed and pretty).

2. I honestly dont see a problem with the logo and the BP slogan. I dont really think its offending anyone and I just think people are over thinking these things too much. I dont really think BP was thinking about the disaster when they created the logo and the slogan so in my opinion i do belive its appropriate.

3. Although I do belive its wrong that BP would have profited over the oil spill, i dont think they should be made fun of. Bp and other oil companies are just doing what every other company in the world does, it does everything possible to make a profit. I think that oil companies should be able to promote as much as they want just like every other company and organization in the world.

Media of the Future- Media appreciation #3

1. Find something new that well see in the future.
I believe that in the future everything will be advanced. For example, in the movie of the xbox 360, they invented a game that could actualy talk to you. I believe that they will enevtually invent computers that do the same thing. The computer will have a mind of its own just like the xbox 360.

2. What is the immediate use for the maker's product?
The immediate use for the markers project is basically to satisfy people in different ways. The makers of products usually invent things to safisy and impress people in their project to make them continue buying their products in order to make money.

3. What impact will this have on us, the users, and/or the world?
I believe that this product will introduce us to a completely different type of game, something weve never seen before. I think that it will change the way people play and think. After this product comes out people will probably expect more and more from the makers of the game because since they created something weve never seen before, what makes us think that they cant invent more then they already did.

Appreciation #1

1) Where do you place yourself or your peers in video game culture? Why?
Personally, I'm not really a fan of video games so I can't really say I'm addicted and I love them. I have played a few and when I do play them I realize how advanced their technology is. So basically I don't reallyplace myself anywhere in video game culture just because i've never played enough to know exactly how video game world is.

2) What do you think of video games and video game culture? Why?
I think that video games are fun to a certain extent. I've never really played much so i probably don't know what some of the good games are so I cant really comment on them. Videogames are not really for me because when i play them i just get nervous and decide to stop and never look at them again, so for me video games are really for people who have good patience.

3) What do you see in the future for our culture and the impact video games will have on that future?
I think video games will become more and more popular in the future. Although I don't play them, many people who do play them seem to be very addicted and interested in these games that have a lot of crazy effects. I think video games will just develop more and more until they have nothing to improve on anymore.

Truman Show

We've become tired of watching actors give us phony emotions, bored with pyrotechnics and special effects.
While the world he inhabits is counterfeit, there's nothing fake about Truman himself. No scripts, no cue cards. It's not always Shakespeare but it's genuine.

1-Have we reached this point in our "entertainment experience"; where we are tired of the fake and need the "real"?
I believe that these days are really based on "real" things. We've seen a lot of animated movies and a lot of movies that would never happen in reality and I belive that people like to watch movies that are real and show things that really do happen. This movie shows us how fake a world can be and it makes us realize that we want to live in a real worl and we want reality to be part of our lives instead of living fake lives.

2-With films like Avatar- using completely created characters, 3D animation, CGI, etc.- is there a point where we, like Truman, can no longer believe the created reality?
I think that people obviously know that Avatar is a fake and animated movie and in my point of view I dont really get interested in animated movies such as Avatar. I'm not intereted in these types of movies just because I like movies that can actualy happen in reality because sometimes they do teach very good lessons about life. I don't think anyone shouldn't belive in the created reality because the truman show was just a movie, it showed us how to beleive in reality instead of "fake" things.
