Appreciation #1

1) Where do you place yourself or your peers in video game culture? Why?
Personally, I'm not really a fan of video games so I can't really say I'm addicted and I love them. I have played a few and when I do play them I realize how advanced their technology is. So basically I don't reallyplace myself anywhere in video game culture just because i've never played enough to know exactly how video game world is.

2) What do you think of video games and video game culture? Why?
I think that video games are fun to a certain extent. I've never really played much so i probably don't know what some of the good games are so I cant really comment on them. Videogames are not really for me because when i play them i just get nervous and decide to stop and never look at them again, so for me video games are really for people who have good patience.

3) What do you see in the future for our culture and the impact video games will have on that future?
I think video games will become more and more popular in the future. Although I don't play them, many people who do play them seem to be very addicted and interested in these games that have a lot of crazy effects. I think video games will just develop more and more until they have nothing to improve on anymore.

Truman Show

We've become tired of watching actors give us phony emotions, bored with pyrotechnics and special effects.
While the world he inhabits is counterfeit, there's nothing fake about Truman himself. No scripts, no cue cards. It's not always Shakespeare but it's genuine.

1-Have we reached this point in our "entertainment experience"; where we are tired of the fake and need the "real"?
I believe that these days are really based on "real" things. We've seen a lot of animated movies and a lot of movies that would never happen in reality and I belive that people like to watch movies that are real and show things that really do happen. This movie shows us how fake a world can be and it makes us realize that we want to live in a real worl and we want reality to be part of our lives instead of living fake lives.

2-With films like Avatar- using completely created characters, 3D animation, CGI, etc.- is there a point where we, like Truman, can no longer believe the created reality?
I think that people obviously know that Avatar is a fake and animated movie and in my point of view I dont really get interested in animated movies such as Avatar. I'm not intereted in these types of movies just because I like movies that can actualy happen in reality because sometimes they do teach very good lessons about life. I don't think anyone shouldn't belive in the created reality because the truman show was just a movie, it showed us how to beleive in reality instead of "fake" things.

Video Dock Response

1-Was there a point where you felt you were overwhelmed and felt like your "image" wasn't enough?
No because I'm not the type of person that cares about what people think about me. I will never change the way I look or act for anyone and whoever does, than I look at it as no respect for yourself.

2-Is the line blurred between what is "Sexy" and the image that you have (or are building) of yourself?
In my opinion, sexy is when a girl tries hard to look seductive. I don't think I am trying at all to fir that image and I don't want to be because I'd rather look classy not trashy. Sexy is something you should keep within yourself and no one but yourself should see it unless you're doing it in a normal way.

3-Whose role is it to set "limits"?
It is our role to set limits. It is out choice if we want to dress a certain way and it is our decision for the things we do. People learn from their mistakes and when they noticed that what they're doing isn't the image they want to give for themselves, they will stop.

4-What advise would you give to a 4 year old about start her "social life", by going to school next year?

I would tell her to be herself and to not change for anyone. I would tell her to be friends with people who like her for who she is instead of what she looks like and to never get influenced by people and to do what she wants instead of what people tell her to do.
